Tomb of Uriyah, Shush, Iraq

 


all inhabitants were Jewish (ancient city of Susa?) Shush (Shosh, שוש ,شوش), Iraq
old synagogue built from stones, in courtyard has well, berry tree
Rabbi Gadliyahu, died 1871


next to town on hill were two tombs: Uriah the Hitite & Nosah Kaliv(?)
during days of Passover, Jews would go up the hill to Uriah's tomb to eat sheep
and make parties
1950 - 30 Jewish families
Kiryat Malachi, Beit Shean, Tiberias, Menucha, Ashbol
