During the oil boom of the late 19th and early 20th century, a small Kurdish community reportedly came to work as laborers in the oil industry. The building has been destroyed and no artifacts from the community remain. The fate of the Kurdish community itself is uncertain, with some stories being that they moved on to Central Asia.
