The area and village of Badan (Ba'dan, בעדאן, بعدان), Yemen (תימן, اليمن), near Ibb (אב, اب).
The village had about 40 Jewish people and served as a central village for Jews in other villages which did not have enough men for a minyan.
The local ruler was Sheikh Amin and he was kind to the local Jews. The synagogue was a standalone building and boys would learn religious subjects in the same building.
