The Ohel Moshe Synagogue (בית כנסת אוהל משה, كنيس اوهل موشى) in Port Said (פורט סעיד, بور سعيد), Egypt (מצרים, مصر).
בית כנסת בפורט סעיד מצרים
كنيس يهودي في بورسعيد, مصر.
The Ohel Moshe Synagogue was located in the Jewish area of Port Said. [1] Construction of the synagogue was funded in most part by a donation from the Adenite philanthropist Menachem Messe (Musa) Banin who is remembered by some as the “Rothschild of the East.” [2, 3] It was consecrated in 1911. [4]
The synagogue was once frequented by a large community of Jews, many of whom emigrated from Aden. [5] At some point in the late twentieth century, the president of the Jewish Community in Port Said sold the synagogue. [6]
