Synagogue at Amzrou, Morocco

In Amzrou, a town in the Moroccan Sahara , even the Hebrew sign marking its synagogue has been lost.

Description

Interview: An old Muslim artisan, who learned his craft from Jewish inhabitants who once lived in Amzrou. Today the Jewish community has disappeared, but the old man still recalls the prayers of his teachers and colleagues.

Only the mellah and synagogue building remains. Speaking in the Moroccan Arabic dialect of Darija, he recites some of prayers.
