The Jima'ati (גמעאתי, جمعاتي) Synagogue in Isfahan (Esfahan, אספהאן, اصفهان), Iran.

Description

Features

Three synagogues are located in the same complex: 1) Molla Rabi, 2) Jima'ati, and 3) Bozorg. There is a common entrance and cooridor which which leads to three doors, one for each synagogue.

The synagogue is bigger and more embellished than the Bozorg Synagogue.1 The overall building plan is a square, with skylights at the top of the dome ceilings, similar to many of the other synagogues in Isfahan.2 It does not have a separate space for women, like the adjacent Bozorg synagogue.3 There is a curtain in front of the Torah, which, like the rest of the synagogues, is elaborately adorned.4 

Current Standing

The building has been under renovation by the Cultural Heritage Organization in Iran.5
