Description

Preta's store, a former grocery store, was operated as a trinket shop by Luzar Salles, a single person, who emigrated to the USA after the end of the war. On the corner of the street opposite, Ismael Katzan was exploring a similar business, also leaving the island at the end of the war, as did Filipe Reich, the rabbi. On the corner of Rua dos Pinheiros, live the Katzan family, in a house rented by Esther Losquy, also of Jewish origin, but descending from the Moroccan Jews who arrived here in the 19th century.

A loja da Preta, antiga mercearia foi explorada como loja de quinquilharias por Luzar Salles, solteiro, que emigrou para of EUA, apos o fim da Guerra. No canto da rua em frente, Ismael Katzan explorava um negocio semelhante, tambem deixando a ilha, no final da Guerra, tal como Filipe Reich, o rabino. No canto da rua dos Pinheiros, viva a familia Katzan, numa casa arrendada por Esther Losquy, tambem de provenience Judaica, mas descendente dos judies marroquinos aqui chegados no seculo XIX.
